About

The Beginning

The Justice Department of Mega-City One has been dispensing Justice and upholding the law for many years now, but not so long ago, they discovered a portal in the half-buried ruins of the Undercity. Chief Judge Hershey put together a special task force of judges from various divisions within the Justice Department. Judge Arabin, a renowned Street Judge and former rookie under Judge Dredd, was promoted to Sector Chief of the new dimension and given the command of the entire task force. His mission was to discover what lay on the other side of the portal and if life forms were discovered, he was to lead the task force in dispensing justice and bringing the Law of Mega-City One to the new land.

The task force was disoriented upon arriving in the new dimension, but soon found their footing. They set up their initial base in Paragon City and word soon spread of their unrelenting pursuit of the Law. While exploring this new world, they discovered many strange life forms that had developed even stranger powers. Powers like the ability to command fire, ice, energy, or to control the minds of their enemies. Some had even managed teleportation and a limited command over gravity. While Mega-City One Law would not allow any Citizens to parade around as “Super heroes”, Judge Arabin realized that they could not hope to arrest everyone in this new dimension at once. They decided to ally themselves with these so called “super heroes” as long as they aided in the apprehension or execution of the thugs, cultists and vandals that were abundant. While mingling with the natives, some of the judges began to develop similar powers of their own which were carefully monitored, but enabled much swifter justice to be served.

During the final days of the beta era, a evil alien race called the Rikti attempted an invasion of Paragon City with a massive army. The "super heroes" joined with the judges to fight back the invading force, and after days of fighting, they were finally successful. While it is believed that some of the aliens may have hidden themselves within the city, the invasion was over.

The alien race was highly advanced, and so Judge Arabin ordered some of the corpses and weaponry to be taken back to their base for analysis. Before long, the Tek-judges managed to not only understand the technology, but incorporate it into the uniforms of some of the judges. They developed rocket boots which enabled the judges to fly across the land. The boots required a great deal of skill to use them properly, and so only a handful of judges were given a pair. Initially, these judges were granted only limited speed from the rocket boots, but as they showed their competence, they were upgraded to faster versions.

The Situation Now

Judge Arabin is still the Sector Chief, but is the only member of the initial task force to have survived the harsh environment. New judges are often sent through the portal to aid in the mission, and the Sector Chief helps these new arrivals to get acquainted with the new world. The hope is that as more judges come through to join the fight, some may be promoted to the rank of TAC Chief and take on more responsibilities within the group.

The Justice Department Tek-judges have been hard at work understanding the alien technology and everyday then seem to find new ways to use it for dispensing justice. The latest inventions include power gauntlets that can charge with energy or fire blasts of energy at an enemy. There are specially adapted suits that can temporarily be shielded in stone, ice, or even fire, while protecting the wearer from the negative effects. Many more will surely be discovered in the coming days, and the men and women of The Justice Department will continue their struggle to bring law to the lawless.

How do I Join?

To join, you will need an understanding or at least an appreciation of the world of Judge Dredd. Having seen the movie is a good start, but it would be better if you had read some of the comics that started and still continue to expand the world of the greatest Lawmen. The original comic is 2000AD, but there are many Judge Dredd specific comics and graphic novels that are fairly easy to pick up. To find out more about Judge Dredd or 2000AD, visit www.2000ADonline.com.

If you feel you are a suitable candidate, simply send an in game email to Judge Arabin or contact him through the Forum, and he will see if you are fit to join the ranks. Please note, he may be under heavy fire bringing Justice to lawbreakers when you call in game, so he may not be able to respond immediately. Also, due to the role-playing aspect of this group, you will need to start a new character who will be the only member of the Supergroup. Membership is granted on a character by character basis. Once you are invited to join, follow this link to find out how to create a judge character.
